But babies come from girls…not boys!

While driving out of our driveway on Friday, and waiting for the gate to close, My Princess (who is 4) looks over at our farm yard (2 sheep; 2 goats; 1 pig and 12 geese) and asks whether I think the sheep will have a baby this summer?

“Well babe, I think that the sheep are actually both girls.”

(I was recently told that if either of them was a boy I would definitely know. Apparently their testicles hang hectically???)

“But mom, that is fine, babies come from girls. (Mom is clearly being silly. Very silly!) You don’t need boys!!! (PAUSE.) God makes it in the girl’s tummy.”

“But I think God wants a family with a daddy first.”

A first taste…….

  1. There you go, it’s just the start ,,,

  2. Ha ha, just you wait!! The questions and comments have only just begun. Here’s how we handled it… be 100% honest… but give the least amount of information possible to defuse the question. Works every time… mostly!! 🙂

  3. I agree with BRC. Just enough honest info to appropriate age and intelligence. Just be sincere. Laughing, a smirk, a smile is okay just not so she feels she is being laughed at. Yes, you may have a grimace here or there. It is also okay to say let’s talk later (so you have time to process what to say). They grow up so quickly and learn so fast these days. It is better to hear these things from a parent even if we are uncomfortable doing so.

    • And how uncomfortable!!! How did you do this so many times Harold?
      xx

  4. Yesterday I was asked if I have a “Wee-Wee”… LOL

  5. LOL
    🙂

    • I am sure there will be many more moments!
      xx

  6. I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Anyway keep up the nice quality writing, it is rare to see a great blog like this one today..
